Family Promise serves homeless families with compassion and dignity. The organization pools existing community resources and enriches the volunteers and local host congregations who participate.
Englewood United Methodist Church and it’s members serve as partners with Family Promise of South Sarasota County which is part of a nation wide network of over 203 affiliates that have touched the lives of over 750,000 homeless family members. This is accomplished through the use of 180,000 volunteers in 6,000 congregations. Our goal is to help families help themselves by giving them tools and the support they need to work through this life crisis. Family Promise’s model is nationally recognized for it’s effectiveness and success with over 74% of participants obtaining self-sufficiency within 9 weeks due to intense case management and community support. With an additional 12% moving into shared housing arrangements. 60% of those served are children, most under the age of 6.
