Meet Our Staff
Pastor Perri Martin
Perri was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She is from a wonderful family that knew of Christ but didn’t engage in faith or church other than Vacation Bible School (VBS) when she was a child. So she went to MANY VBS’s as a kid. In the fall of 5th grade, Perri asked her parents why they only went to VBS and not the rest of the year. She told them to take her to church or she would walk. So her Mom and her started going to church. On January 11th, 1998 (her 11th birthday), Perri accepted Christ and was baptized. The following summer, Perri went to church camp and that is when she head a missionary share their story and she felt called to ministry. Perri was also a competitive gymnast and because of gymnastics her family moved across town and was searching for a new church. They became members at CrossRoad Church (UMC) in Jacksonville, and got very involved in anything they could.
Perri is married to Gilmer (Gil) who is also from Jacksonville, FL. They have known each other since 8th grade and attended church together at CrossRoad (They did not start dating until after college). Once Perri decided to quit chasing toads, she didn’t need to date her Prince Charming too long before she knew. (He knew all along.) They were married August 14, 2010. They have three young children, Olivia, Gilmer III (known by Trey to most people) and Lukas.
Perri attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida where she graduated with a B.A. in Educational Studies and a Religion minor in 2009. She is a sister of Kappa Delta Sorority and was very involved in the campus ministries. She was the founding President of the Wesley Fellowship as a sophomore. Perri attended Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky where she received her Masters of Divinity in 2014.
Perri is currently a Provisional Elder and is pursuing her ordination requirements. Englewood UMC is her first appointment. She loves all the opportunities she has to help grow the Family Ministries of EUMC and all that she gets to learn about ministry while serving here.
