Guest Speakers:
Always Be Prepared!
Certainly we have been blessed with not having a direct hit by a hurricane in Englewood for over 75 years, however; the possibility certainly exists.
EUMC is in the planning stages of training folks to be prepared for an emergency event like a hurricane, major fire, power failure, etc., so that we can take care of ourselves before we can offer help to others.
Charlotte County recently held a 3-day training program to prepare individuals & groups to handle emergencies through a program called CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). Currently there are 2 CERT response teams organized in South Gulf Cove and Rotonda. For more details about CERT go to charlottecountycert@gmail.com.
It is our plan to organize a trained group from the Englewood area consisting not only of EUMC members, but members of our local community. We will have a table in Fellowship Hall for sign-ups.
Thank you,
Peter Patrick, EUMC Disaster Coordinator
